African Dancing

Each year, Mr. Diadie comes to Glenridge for a week to work with each grade on an African dance.  As the students get older, they learn more and more of the dance.  Today, 5th grade had their final session with Mr. Diadie and we saw some great dance moves.  Take a look!

Don't Miss the Supermoon Lunar Eclipse on 9/2715

Spend some time outside Sunday night to view the supermoon lunar eclipse.  This is a great connection to our unit on the sun, moon, and planets.  We will not see another until the year 2033 so don't miss it!

"Autumn paints in colors that Summer has never seen"

The 5th graders got together with their kindergarten learning buddies today and spent some time outdoors.  As part of their science curriculum, the kindergartners study how trees change throughout the seasons.  So, together the buddies observed various trees and made detailed sketches to record their observations of the trees in the Fall.  When they finished their sketches, the buddies worked together to gather bark and leaf rubbings.  It was nice to connect with each other over the study of nature.

Dot day*

Today we read, The Dot, by Petter Reynolds. Through this story Petter Reynolds is trying to teach to teach to leave a mark and see were it takes you also no art is bad and to not give up and be confident about yourself.

I will make my mark in the world by making  people feel better about them self and to not give up and be nice.

My friends made a mark in the world by being kind to me and helping me with hard stuff.

How will you make your mark in the world?

Dot Day

Today we read The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds. Throughout this story, Peter Reynolds is trying to teach us to be unique. Being unique is always cool. Most people want to be like others because of peer pressure, but don't let that get to you. Don't be afraid to make your mark and see where it takes you! You should also be inspired and inspire people. You only live once, so make the most of it.

This week, I will make my mark on the world by doing kind things to other people or help them to make a mark on their lives.

My parents have made a mark on my world by pushing me to do better and supporting me in everything I do. They also take care of me and set good examples for me.

I will make my mark on the world this week by........ holding the door for 4 people each day or more.

Rosanne[mom]has made a mark in my world by helping me through hard times and teaching me.

how will you make your mark?

Dot day

Today we read the dot by Peter Reynolds. I think Peter Reynolds is trying to say to never give up, keep practicing, and making it better. The way I'm going to make a mark on the world is by helping people and make them feel proud of them selves. A person who made a mark on my world is my mom because she helps me when I need it, and makes everything feel better.

How will you make your mark on the world?

The.................Dot!

                                                       The Dot

Today we read the dot today by peter Reynolds. Through this story Peter Reynolds is trying to teach us that anyone in the world can make a difference and help the world in some way and everyone can make a mark to help people in this world.

I will make my mark on the world this week by telling people that they can do things in life that they don't think they can do and giving them a chance to try new things.

Vashti has made a mark on my world by making a dot and inspiring me to try different things and to make my mark.

HOW WILL YOU MAKE YOUR MARK!......................................................................................................................... ON THE WORLD!

Make A Mark On The World

Today we read, The Dot, by Peter Reynolds. Throughout the story, Peter Reynolds is trying to show us not to be afraid of being ourselves. He is trying to teach us that when you make a mistake something good always comes from it. Always. Whether you realize it or not. I will make a mark on the world this week by not giving up. This will help me when I grow up, and now. Hopefully my attitude will rub of on someone. The more happy people the better the world. Doctors have made a mark in my world by helping me, when I opened my forehead. As the blood kept rolling down my face, they were there to help me. Without them I don't know what I'd do!

About how we can make our mark thats why Vashi gives the little boy a chance to make his mark at the very end of the book. I think that the part of the story when Vashi gives the little boy a pencial and a peice of paper.
